Things I've Been Seeing

Children

Baby B

untitled (77 of 237)I met her Saturday at the birthday party of one of my grandsons. She was so charming, I snapped several pictures of her, and learned that her name is Avelyn Grace. Isn’t that the cutest thing you’ve seen in a bit.

Gabby Beeso

Gabrielle Beeso is my 9th great-grandchild. A peek of her feet and special dress for the Beeso wedding Friday night.

Pappy and Gabby

Enough of you, Pappy. I want my mama!

Gabby and mama Jessica.

Conference Children

Among others, these two beautiful children attended a conference in Tucson, AZ. a couple of weeks ago.

Steve and His 1939 Chevrolet (Day 350/365)

Steve will be restoring this 1939 Chevrolet.

Nathaniel Celebrates! (Day 343/365)

Nathaniel celebrated his 15th birthday by having a few friends to dinner at his home where he lives with his mom. I was lucky enough to be invited to what turned out to be a neat party. Happy 15th sweet Nathaniel. (More about this exceptional young man later.)

Mike and Gage (Day 330/365)

Ella with Headset (Day 325/365)

Pastor and Mrs. Phil White–family/friends (Day 317/365)

We were so happy to be able to attend the 30th pastoral anniversary of Brother and Sister Phil White in Burbank this morning. Afterward we ate a fine Mexican meal with them and some of their family, Sister Blatto (whose picture I did not get), Kaye Singleton, and Brother and Sister Clark of Upland.

Rebecca’s Birthday (Day 292/365)

Rebecca’s birthday is October 19th. We spent the afternoon together, talking, browsing, buying shoes for her, and finishing off with a great meal at Macaroni Grill. I thank God for giving me such a gift as my lovely daughter, Rebecca.

Winding Down (Day 265/365)

Tenth (not of Ten) of Eleven (Someone Miscalculated)

Ella Claire Buxton (Day 259/365)

Gorilla Hair! (Day 257/365)

My view of Cole’s hair as he listened this morning while Pappy gave a short devotion. The first day they arrived, giggling, he said,  “Feel my hair, Granny.” Uses a product called Gorilla something or other. Stiff as a poker!

Cole’s Turn (Day 256/365)

Cole’s turn to help with the daily meals.

Grandkids Chore List (Day 255/365)

Five grandkids are visiting with us for 10 days! I’m happy!

Nate Chillin’ (Day 213/365)

A Charmer (365)

My favorite shot of this day is this charming Amish youngster. I snapped this through the windshield of our Jeep.

Into the Cookies (Day 174/365)

In the fellowship hall of Harvest Tabernacle of Safford, AZ. today, they are making burros for a fund-raiser. This charming little girl had obviously been into the cookies. When I pointed my camera toward her, she offered me this dazzling smile and sparkling eyes. Wish my camera level had been slightly lower.

Pastor and Mrs. Kris Keyes (Day 169/365)

You will never meet finer people than these two right here. How blessed I am to call them friends. He is the pastor of Harvest Tabernacle of Safford, AZ.

Brody (Day 141/365)

My gorgeous, sweet great-grandson Brody. We had lunch with him today in Lake Havasu.

Charming Young Friend (Day 117/365)

I am blessed with friends of all ages. This charmer belongs to Rev. and Mrs. Delmon Sansom. As we ate lunch yesterday here at the Holiday Inn in Casa Grande, I lifted my camera and snapped this photograph of her beautiful little face.

Edit: Saturday April 30 I saw her again at church last night, and because I wasn’t sure of her name, I asked her how to spell it. Without a word, from her purse, she whipped out a writing pad and a pencil and wrote it down for me: REANNAH. She is charming, I tell you.

To the Wind. To the Mist. (Day 107/365)

As I sat in church this morning, I observed two kinds of children; those who were accustomed to being in church, and those who were not. Not in all were there discernable differences, but my long experience in church work and in the hearing of  God’s Word assures me that those who at a young age are disciplined in the beauty of God are more likely to serve Him when they are adults.

Yet, there are no guarantees, and although God promises our children will never depart from Godly teaching, each soul ultimately must decide for himself. Before God–alone–will we stand, and there give account for our lives. Our short lives, our fleeting days.

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” James 4:14

I thought of that this golden April afternoon as I stood on the shores of Lake Gregory. I watched as Ella scooped sand and pebbles into her tiny fist, and in her awkward little girl way, threw the drifting grains toward the lapping water.

Edit: April 18

…and today was laid to rest, our dear Brother Treece, a patriarch, a scholar, a preacher of the Gospel, a Christian.

…and gone just this morning to meet Jesus is my friend Russell Pound who I knew as a young man. He was gentle, faithful, and one who loved God.

…as a mist, a breeze, a flicker of the eye…is my life.

Cousins (Day 106/365)

These three, along with others, are visiting at our home in Crestline. They’re having a great time. Today they’ve walked to the woods, seen a ghost in our “secret room,” ridden bikes, eaten hamburgers, helped Granny cook pancakes for breakfast, played basketball, helped Pappy lay stone for a patio, gone to the bank with Pappy to cash their checks he gave them for their work, jumped on a pogo stick, played hide and go seek, hidden from their little girl sister/cousin and hidden from me when I tried to take their pictures…but I found them! 🙂

Brady Boy (Day 86/365)

Brady is eight, and is one of the five grandchildren with us for a couple of days. First thing this morning after he had scrambled out of bed, he went to the dining room window, and looked out at the snowman they had built yesterday. Sadly, the snowman had deteriorated, for through the night the fog was as heavy as light rain and the temperature was slightly above freezing. He had shrunk, so that his carrot eyes had fallen to the ground.

Ask me how sweet is Brady? All five have sterling, unique qualities, but this one is the sweetest. A charming, compliant little boy. When they were here at Christmas time, I was sitting by Brady on the hearth when I leaned over and said, “I love you, Brady.”

He gave me a half-grin and said in a slightly disgusted way, “Again, Granny?”
